About Us...
Welcome...please come on into our virtual living room, pull up a chair, and let us tell you a bit about Etz Chaim MTJC.
We are the only full-service congregation in Monroe Township - a center of Reform Jewish living, and member of the Union for Reform Judaism, with a taste for the traditional. Established in 1979, we continue to grow in size, service, and involvement.
Our congregation's size permits us to offer personal attention to each member.
By combining love for the old with recognition of the new, we fulfill the needs of the Jewish residents of our communities.
Our Rabbi, our Principal, and our President also extend to you a warm welcome to Etz Chaim MTJC.
We have attempted to summarize our goals and objectives as a congregation in the mission statement below.
Congregation Etz Chaim Monroe Township Jewish Center is dedicated
to being the focus of Jewish life in southern Middlesex County, New Jersey.
We are an inclusive community offering all people a spiritual
and supportive home.
We adhere to the principles of Reform Judaism.
Etz Chaim MTJC is a center for Jewish people who seek
Torah, Worship, Culture, Social Interaction and Community Involvement
with an emphasis on enduring Jewish values.
To this end our:
- Worship services provide a wide range of egalitarian opportunities for participation in religious life. Through Torah and/or communal prayer we gain spiritual growth and a closer link to God and to our higher selves.
- Education is an overarching goal as we constantly strive to instill a love of Torah and a lifelong commitment to Jewish learning. We emphasize, at all ages, those Jewish values which enable everyone to make responsible religious and ethical choices based upon a knowledge and understanding of Jewish beliefs, ideologies, and history.
- Community Involvement is demonstrated through our dedication to "tikkun olam" - healing the world. We are involved in the general and Jewish communities in ways which fulfill the mitzvot of tzedakah - providing justice - for ourselves and our neighbors.
