♥ Caring Committee ♥
Caring is something we all know about. We have all had times when we have needed care from others and times when we want to care for others. The Caring Committee organizes the network of members who want to help and matches them to those members of our family of families who are in need of help. We are here to lend support by keeping in touch with members through visits or by phone, providing transportation or emergency child care, sending notes or greeting cards, weeding a garden, offering a meal in times of illness, helping with shopping or errands, or G-d forbid, helping to make Shiva plans.
♥ When you need a hand, please give us a call. We are here to help, but cannot do so unless we hear about your situation. When you call, a committee member can and will respond.
♥ If you can lend a hand sometimes, please let us know.
♥ The committee does not replace the work of the Rabbi. Instead, it complements that work and increases the ability of our community to respond to individual needs.
♥ The Caring Committee is an important part of the synagogue. By caring for each other, we create a strong family of families.
♥ The Caring Committee forms a network of members who reach out to one another in times of need.
How do I receive help?
If you would like to inquire about Caring Committee assistance for yourself or another member, please call the temple office or the Vice President of the Caring Committee.
How do I offer help?
The Caring Committee functions through the efforts of many people. There is always the need for volunteers sometimes for brief jobs and sometimes for more involved roles. Whether your schedule allows an hour or a day, you will find that helping others is one of the most meaningful experiences you will experience. Please contact the Vice President of the Caring Committee to match your time and interest with someone's need.
Keeping in touch
♥ Volunteers keep in touch with members who would like to have additional contact with the temple community. Those who are in nursing homes or homebound are among those visited or phoned.
Providing Meals
♥ Volunteers provide meals for people in the synagogue in times of need. Please let us know if you are in need of a meal or several meals or if you are willing to provide a meal for someone in a time of need.
Correspondence
♥ Notes and cards bring cheer and caring communication to those in our family in periods of transition. Let us know when you learn of the need for this service within our community.
Transportation
♥ We attempt to provide transportation to members in time of need. Rides to services and medical appointments or to a Shiva call are typical requests.
Emergency Child Care
♥ Short-term child care in emergency situations is available when possible.
Shiva plans
♥ If you are in need of help in making Shiva plans after the passing of a loved one, please allow us to help you make phone calls, arrange for refreshments at the Shiva house, do our best to ensure a Minyon for Kaddish.
